Here’s my weekly post sharing about what’s going on in the world of RecipeGirl, as well as some fun links to things I’ve come across lately. So here it goes: following are 10 things to share with you this week- everything from recipes to shopping to a few fun articles and more. There are a few affiliate links included here and there. Enjoy!

The Best Chili Recipes:

Having a big tub of Three Bean and Beef Chili around during the week is a great thing. It makes for a very filling and nutritious lunch! Ina Garten’s Chicken Chili is a great chili for a chilly day! It’s a good, hearty chili recipe that feeds a large crowd. Chili doesn’t always have to have meat. You can create a good chili without adding ground beef or turkey, steak, chicken or lamb. My Vegetarian Chili has plenty of spices added in, as well as beans, fresh herbs and lemon juice. My recipe for White Chicken Chili has plenty of white aged cheddar cheese swirled in to create a wonderful cheesy texture to this bowl of chili. Spicy Turkey Chili has been in my “make often” circulation for about 20 years now.  Despite the given name, the chili isn’t one with a lot of heat to it.  “Spicy” just refers to the fact that this chili is made with a lot of different spices, which gives it a lot of great flavors!

Fun Shopping Finds:

I’ve been looking for a good holiday dress, and I’m drawn to red plaid. This wrap/ruffle dress is darling. And I really like the price on this cute black and plaid dress and this red plaid dress too. How will I ever decide which one is the best?? I’m also in love with this cute fall dress, which would look cute with boots! Lilly Pulitzer has bright, pretty pieces and this sweater is so cute (and on sale!) Also eyeing this cozy sweater that comes in a million different colors and patterns. I want this plaid boyfriend shirt (sale!) This walker coat in bubble gum or kelly green would be ADORABLE. Loving this sherpa jacket too (and it’s 40% off!) And these pretty earrings are in my Anthro shopping cart!

Instagram accounts to follow:

Follow Cooking with Karli for cookies and easy dinner recipes. Follow The Magical Slow Cooker for all things made in a slow cooker! I met both of these ladies recently, and they are lovely.

What I’m watching and reading and listening to:

I just finished watching “From Scratch” on Netflix, and I’m loving it. It’s a great show and it has some cute lighter and fun moments, but it takes a serious turn and I have cried many times while watching it too!! There is a bit of a travel/food theme to it. Did you know that my sister Susie is a Book Blogger?  She shares reviews of tons of books (mostly new and noteworthy) on Instagram, and she has a blog too: Novel Visits. She’s also a regular guest on Sarah’s Bookshelves podcast. There’s a great new interview with Steve Carell on the Smartless podcast.

Fun Recipes I’ve spotted on the internet this week:

Sautéed Apples with Cinnamon would make a lovely fall dessert. I’m currently craving this Mandarin Orange Salad. This Creamy Tomato Turkey Orzo Soup looks warm and comforting! Honey Mustard Chicken looks like a recipe the whole family would like. Caramel Apple Cupcakes look delicious for dessert. And I’m thinking Pumpkin Spice Moscow Mules would be great to make on Halloween (for the adults!)

Here’s what’s going on in my life:

I spent the first part of last week in Miami Beach! I was at a business retreat. But I had never been there before, so it was fun to visit. The weather was about 84 degrees, it wasn’t too humid, and I got in plenty of beach walks, pool time, and tropical cocktails. I stayed at The Fountainbleu Hotel, which has some historical significance. It was a very fancy hotel when it opened way back in the 1950’s. The first snowfall greeted me when I came back home to Oregon. It’s now officially freezing, and it’s time to make soup and comfort food every night for dinner! I participated in a progressive dinner party with Sandy from Reluctant Entertainer and Erin from Platings and Pairings. My house was the stop for appetizers and wine. I served Crostini with Gorgonzola, Caramelized Onions and Fig Jam and Greek Salad Cucumber Bites.

New cookbook releases: The King Arthur Baking School: Lessons and Recipes for Every Baker was released a couple of weeks ago. It’s on my wish list because I have tried so many recipes from King Arthur Flour’s website, and they’re always really good! Sheet Pan Sweets was also released this month. It features 80+ recipes for one pan desserts. Bobby Flay is playing a food critic in a new Christmas movie: One Delicious Christmas. Kroger and Albertsons are merging, which could mean price increases at the grocery store. Many stores and restaurants are offering Freebies and Discounted Treats on Halloween!

Products I’m loving:

I’ve started the process of scanning all of my Mom’s old photos (and mine) so I will have a digital copy of them all. I bought an expensive scanner and hated it, so I sent it back and got the Plustek Photo Scanner. It’s super easy to use and it’s very fast. So far, I’m very happy with it! Look for Werther’s Pumpkin Spice Caramels in your market’s candy aisle. They’re addicting! How cute is this Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar? Do you need a new turkey carving set for Thanksgiving (sale)? Look for the Shawarma Marinated Chicken Thighs at Trader Joe’s. We buy them often to have on hand for a quick and easy dinner. This wall hanging Christmas tree is cute for a small space or even a guest room.

Bake this week:

Bake Apple Cider Bread to have on hand for breakfast and snacking. You can make Butterfinger Brownies and Pumpkin Oatmeal Candy Bar Cookies with leftover Halloween candy! My Apple Cranberry Crisp with Maple Whipped Cream is the perfect seasonal dessert!
