You can certainly spend a lot of money buying coffee drinks at the coffee shops. So it’s really nice to have the means to make them at home when you want to! This recipe for a Caramel Macchiato is a Starbucks copycat recipe. Starbucks debuted the caramel macchiato back in 1996. It’s been a coffee shop favorite ever since. Make it at home once in a while, and save some cash!
Ingredients needed:
vanilla syrup hot espresso milk whipped cream caramel sauce
How to make a Caramel Macchiato:
Stir together vanilla syrup and a couple of shots of espresso in a glass coffee mug. You don’t really have to use a glass coffee mug, but I have these glass mugs and I absolutely love to use them for making my coffee drinks! If you don’t have the means to make espresso, you can use a really strong cup of coffee instead. If you have a Keurig, you can buy espresso pods instead of coffee pods, if you’d like. Pour in steamed milk, and stir. To steam the milk, you can put a glass of milk in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds. Or you can use a milk frother. Add whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel syrup on top.
How to make Vanilla Syrup for coffee:
Begin by making a thick simple syrup. Add 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water to a saucepan. Heat to boiling, stir until sugar dissolves. Let the sugar syrup cool completely. Then add 1 tablespoon vanilla extract to the cooled sugar syrup to create vanilla syrup. This can be used to make a caramel macchiato or a vanilla latte, and you can also add it to your iced coffee or cold brew coffee! This recipe for vanilla syrup will allow you to make several beverages. Just store it in the refrigerator, and it will keep for up to one month.
If you’re making a coffee drink, then you might as well make a treat to go with it. I recommend making some shortbread cookies, almond biscotti or coffee cake. Enjoy!
