There are many reasons to love this bread. It’s spiced just right with plenty of spices, it’s moist and tender, and it’s packed full of fresh apples. I have notes below on which apples are the best to use for baking. This fresh apple bread is a terrific breakfast bread and it’s great for afternoon snacking too.

How to make Fresh Apple Bread:

You’ll need a 5×9-inch loaf pan (I love this one, and it comes in three colors). In a bowl, you’ll cream white sugar and butter together. Then you’ll add in eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Separately, you’ll whisk together the dry ingredients (all purpose flour and spices, etc.). And then you’ll combine the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients.  Next, you’ll peel a couple of apples, chop them finely and toss them with apple cider vinegar. Then you’ll stir the apples into the batter. The fresh apple bread batter is then scraped into the loaf pan and baked for about 55 minutes.

What are the best apples to use for baking?

Granny Smith (tart, but they work well in baking when combined with plenty of sugar) Jonathan, Jonagold and Cortland (a good combo of sweet and tart) Braeburn (on the sweeter side) Honeycrisp (sweet with a hint of honey)
